Did you come here for the boos?! Despite the spooky name, the Zombie is very much a classic Tiki cocktail hailing from none other than sunny California. Supposedly one of the first people to sample this strong and complex drink claimed it left him feeling like a zombie for days, and the name stuck! It’s an understatement to describe the Zombie as potent; the amount of rum is perhaps unnecessary even. Yet the cocktail comes to life (ironically!) with the tropical burst of fruit from the pineapple and lime, along with sweet tartness from the grenadine.

 

What you’ll need:

 

  • Your Rusty Barrel cocktail shaker set
  • 37.5ml of your preferred rum
  • 37.5ml of your preferred ovenproof rum
  • 25ml of pineapple juice
  • 15ml of falernum
  • 20ml lime juice
  • 5ml of grenadine
  • 2-3 drops of Pernod
  • Fresh mint
  • Lime zest

Mint Sprig & Lime zest

Top Tip:

Works well as a punch recipe, prepped in advance, for parties and large gatherings (especially for Halloween!)

How to mix it like a pro:

 

  • Add  both rums, pineapple juice, falernum, lime juice, grenadine and Pernod to your glass.
  • Stir well.
  • Top up glass with ice and churn.
  • Add Mint sprig and lime zest to finish.

Paint the town dead…it’s a no-brainer!
