The Cocktail Codex is one of our favourite cocktail books and helps you understand the science behind the recipe, rather than just following it step by step.
The authors argue that all cocktails come from just six root cocktails: old fashioned, martini, daiquiri, sidecar, whisky highball, and flip.
Once you’ve mastered the six, you’ll have a deep understanding of when to stir and when to shake, what you can add and what to take out.
Experiment with confidence and invent the next classic cocktail. The only challenge will be coming up with a name for your latest creation!
